Neighborhood Farewell

Another post - I think I am going to set some kind of record this week. You would think I had nothing else to do this week - NOT! I think it is just a bit of avoidance behavior. Not having to think too much about Cali leaving tomorrow:(

Since I don't think any of my family really reads this blog it shouldn't be a problem- if my family does read it they don't ever comment - except sweet Emily and the boys rare comment - thank you Emily!

Hint family: an important part of blogging is commenting!

Blogging without comments is like having a one sided conversation - no fun!
I know my boys at least look at the picures - Logan called last night to comment on how old Tessa looked and why hadn't I said anything about him lately - see he doesn't read it because I gave a Logan update right here!

I do have a few friends who leave comments once in a while - thank you ladies - I appreciate it.

Fortunately people do read my other blog - http://www.yourhomebasedmom.com/ and I get comments there so I don't feel totally ignored!

But again, I blog for purely selfish reasons - it is a nice record of my family and what we are up to. I print it off each year and viola - our family history is up to date! Love it!

Sunday night our cul de sac neighbors hosted a college send off party for Cali. We gathered for a potluck dinner at the Quillins - lots of good food and fun. The kids played RockBand and the parents chatted. We took some fun pictures too. We are so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors - since we don't have much family nearby they have definitely become our extended family.

Cali has the whole neighborhood set up on Skype and webcam now so that she can talk with them all from college!

Here is Cali's new boyfriend

Declan!

Her other Mom's - Debbie Osborne, Katie Quillin,

Sheri Adams and big sister Caitie Osborne and the real mom - me!

Saturday Fun - Part Two

After we got home from our adventures at the Barn House Jim had a fun family day planned.

We headed out the gorge to do some hiking. It was perfect hiking weather! We did the four mile loop at Latourelle Falls.
After our hike we headed over to Multnomah Falls and had ice cream.

We had googled disc golf courses and found there was one out in the gorge so we stopped by to check it out and play.

The course we have played on in Portland is more like a minature golf course and this new course is like a PGA golf course!!! It was so hard! The girls gave up after the first hole and I lasted for two holes. Jim played nine holes and I just walked along while the girls hung out at the car.

From there we headed home stopping for some Mexican food for dinner. Our strenuous day wore us out and we hung out at home for the evening. Tessa and I watched Miss Pettigrew Lives for the Day - a cute movie and Jim watched the Olympics while Cali hung out with Jameson.

Saturday Fun!

After a week of rainy, cool days our weather was perfect on Saturday and we took full advantage of it. We packed as much fun into one day as we could.

Tessa and I started out the day with her friend Jenny. Jenny has been staying with us this week while her parents are taking her older sister to school at Notre Dame. We love Jenny and she is a delight to have around.

They agreed to get up early with me and head north to BattleGround to attend an event at the Barn House - a type of vintage flea market. It was quite the adventure as it was way out in the country and I was quite sure where I was going. We did take a ten mile detour but with some help from my dad over the phone we were able to get back on track and find the Barn House.

What fun!

Here are some pictures of the BarnHouse

Tessa and Jenny had fun with my camera doing a little photo shoot!.

Here are some of the fun treasures we brought home with us.

I had been looking for something to put in the cloche I had bought at a store that was going out of business and when I found these old books tied together with antique lace I knew they would be perfect!

We feel in love with the little white antique baby dresses we saw hanging on the ladder so we bought them along with the antique hangers and hung them over Tessa's window as a window valance. We add a pair of old baby shoes we found there too! Doesn't it look darling!

Then we found this sweet "sweet" sign - perfect for Tessa's room too!

We headed home to meet up with Cali and Jim. Cali had had a brunch with "The Crew" - her group of friends she has gone through Girl's Camp with.

Getting Ready for College Week

This was a fun but emotional week at our house. Cali's last full week home before we head to Provo this next week.

We did lots of getting ready to leave stuff. Which translates into lots of shopping!

All three girls got haircuts too - Cali has a DARLING new shorter hair do that we all love.

Tuesday night Cali and I went to a potluck dinner with a group of college bound girls and their moms. This group of girls have known each other since elementary school and played on the same soccer team through 8th grade - they are all now headed off to college. It was fun to get together again.

Wednesday was registration day at the high school for Tessa. I am grateful she still wants me to go with her - I think it was mainly so I could write all those checks! Her school ID picture turned out great which was really important.

Jim was out of town all week in Colorado and Idaho Falls. He got to spend a little time with his parents in IF which was nice. He got home Thursday evening and being the good dad that he is he got into the car 6:00 a.m. Friday morning to help Clark drive back to Provo.

We packed the car with as much of Cali's stuff as we could! Jim drove with him to Boise and then caught a plane back to Portland. Clark arrived safely in Lindon where he will be staying with David and Tricia until he can move into his apartment on Friday. Thank you David and Tricia for taking care of him for us!

Friday was a fun day. While at Girl's Camp this summer the Destiny Leaders and the Craft Leaders decided we need to have a Craft Room Tour. Three of the ladies have great craft rooms in their homes ( I am not one of them, sadly) and we wanted to see them. So the other three ladies(myself included) fixed lunch and we ate out in our garden and then we toured from house to house.

It was so fun - we had lots of fun talking, visiting and laughing and we even got to make a fun craft at one of the houses!

Logan spent the week in Newport Beach with Becca and her family having lots of fun. They spent time on the beach, shopping, and at Disneyland. They also had fun eating Sprinkles cupcakes and Pinkberry Yogurt! We are looking forward to seeing him next week when we get to Provo! We love you Logan!! We love you too Clark!!

This weekend was a busy one but it's almost midnight and I'm tired so I'll write another post tomorrow with some pictures of how we spent our weekend! Night!
