Peach Picking

A week or so ago a gal that reads my blog wrote to me and invited me to come out and visit their farm on Sauvie's Island.  She said the peaches were ripe and ready for picking.

Unfortunately Cali had to work today (Friday) so Tessa and I as well as Joe and Declan next door (Tessa was babysitting them) headed out to Sauvie Island Farms

It is a beautiful, sunny warm day!!

We did the peach picking first.

The Red Haven peaches were ready for picking.  The trees are really short so no ladders are necessary.  Not even for me and Declan.

Joe just couldn't resist climbing up into the tree though.

With the four of us it didn't take long to pick what we needed.

Just enough to make a pie or two, some for eating and maybe even some to can!
We loaded up the peaches and headed over to the berry patch.

We rode a trailer out to the berries and picked some blueberries and raspberries too.  The raspberries were delicious and I think I ate as many as I took home.

The farm also has a lot of U-Pick vegetables and lots of beautiful flowers.  I especially loved the signs they had to mark each type of flower.
The zinnias were beautiful so I picked some of those along with a sunflower to go right in the middle of them.

On the way home we went the back way and stopped by Skyline Restaurant for a hamburger and fries and  the boys had a milkshake.  Then it was home to make some blueberry muffins!

Creative Memories Showcase

Early Thursday morning I flew out to Minneapolis for Creative Memories annual convention - Showcase.  The best part was getting to spend time with this lady!

My good friend Deb Afton from Michigan.  She and I met 19 years ago when we start CM and were on a committee together and have been kindred spirits ever since!

I also got to spend time and connect with team members who don't live in Portland which is always a treat.  I am blessed to have so many amazing women in my life.

And then I got to rub shoulders with some famous people too.  Nancy O'Dell from Access Hollywood is a big time scrapbooker and has joined forces with CM and has designed her own line of scrapbooking materials which we are going to sell.  She is gorgeous!

And I also met this little guy - just my size!
Yes, he is just a cardboard cut out but I couldn't pass up the chance to have my picture taken with him.  We enjoyed dinner at Buca di Beppo's on Friday night!  Yum!!
Right next door to the restaurant I spotted this -

Check out the name of the building - Kenosha.  My hometown!!

Deb and I skipped out of a session Saturday morning to go enjoy breakfast at Hell's Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis.  I had some yummy homemade vanilla/lemon yogurt with berries and granola.

Hell's Kitchen is a "colorful" place and the waiters wear their pajamas.  I loved the writing on the wall.

It was a great weekend with lots of new information, training and fun new products.  Of course the best part was connecting with my CM friends!  I flew home Sunday afternoon and the girls had fixed dinner for me!
Fun times but good to be home.

Free Fun and Picnic

Last Tuesday we decided to go on a picnic.  We are always looking for Free Fun and my friend Marsha mentioned a free concert downtown.  We decided to pack up a picnic dinner and head down.  The music was a little funky but we had fun!.
We took our blanket, chairs and picnic dinner and headed downtown.
Tessa brought her friend Katy Jo along.
We had a fun time eating, listening to the music and doing a little people watching.  There were some characters out that night!

One particular woman who was really getting in to the music and dancing kept the whole crowd entertained.
There are lots of free concerts around Portland this summer and we are looking forward to going to a few more.  Think we're headed to Laurelhurst Park this Saturday for a free symphony concert.  Free is a good price!
