Labor Day Weekend

For Labor Day Weekend we tried not to labor or work too much.

I guess when you don't have a job that's not too hard! O.K. so I am trying to have a sense of humor about this whole thing!!!

For those of you who may not know - Jim lost his job this week. No fun but we will get through it and know that with the continued love, support and prayers of our family and friends Jim will find an amazing new job soon!!

This weekend we looked for lots of Free fun ideas!

Tessa spent the entire weekend reading for her AP Language class. Poisonwood Bible is the current read.

Saturday morning Jim and I went to the Temple together.

I made a batch of cupcakes for an Open House our neighbors the Atacks were having for their daughter who is getting married.

Jim enjoyed the BYU football game and I even watched the last part of it - go Cougars!!

Tessa was still reading.

Sunday was church and I took dinner to my friend Marsha who had surgery this last week. We then has some Free fun and watched a movie from the library - A BBC mini series about Victoria and Albert.
Monday morning - Tessa was still reading so Jim and I did some Free hiking around the Hoyt Arboretum in Washington Park. Lots of pretty trees!

I even found this really cool looking pine cone!

Since school starts tomorrow we had to do the annual measuring of the children. Since there is only one child at home it didn't take long!
Yes, she had grown - about a 1/4 of an inch. She is now offically 5 foot 6 1/2 inches

Tessa was still reading when we went to a potluck BBQ at our friends the Densleys. I took a yummy roasted corn salad, blueberrry lemon bars and some raspberry/brie bites. I had a few recipes to experiment with for the RS Broadcast coming up at the end of the month.

So that was our Labor Day weekend - Tessa is still reading......

What did you do?

When Adam got laid off, we went to the Temple 3 times! Since it's a 3 hr drive to the St. Louis temple, that was quite the accomplishment. And one trip was to Nauvoo. But it kept him sane and remembering his blessings.... like time to go :)
We also looked for free activities. Our favorite was family Wii time - lots of tournaments between my husband and Princess1. Princess2 (only 2) also learned how to play.

We did two sessions in the Columbia River Temple, hit Costco and WinCo, attended the first football game of the season for Moses Lake (our bishop's son got his first touch down), went to a ward pot luck, did some yard work, worked on unpacking a few boxes, and worked on transferring some things from the old to the new computer. We also saw Julie and Julia and drooled over all the yummy food. . . . . .THANKS FOR SHARING! Plus we yelled for BYU--GO COUGARS! Yeah, our alma mater pulled through with flying colors!!!!
