Wilkes' Weekly Dinner Plan

I am going to try something new. With Jim's travel schedule, Spring Break, the musical and just life in general I have had a hard time being organized with my meal planning.

Instead of planning out the week's menu a week at a time like I use to do I have been making it a daily decision which also means there is usually a daily trip to the grocery store to get what I need.

So I am making a public committment -is there anyone out there?? if there is, you could let me know by leaving a comment now and then:), a committment to posting our weekly dinner plan.

Yes, on Mondays - o.k. so it's almost Tuesday but my goal is to post the list every Monday morning - I will be letting you know what we are having for dinner that week. I will try to include recipes too.

So I hope you enjoy it - please let me know if you do. And if you try some of the recipes I'd love to hear what you think.

If you have any favorite family recipes to share - I'd love to try them too - just email the recipes to me.

If you are reading this post in an email update or through a RSS reader you will need to click through to the actual blog to leave a comment - thanks!

Happy Meal Planning!

Monday - Balsamic Chicken Pizza using leftover chicken and balsamic sauce from Sunday. This was so yummy!

Tuesday - Hamburgers Teriyaki and Parmesan Crusted Potato Wedges - recipes to follow

Wednesday - French Dip Sandwiches - this is a new recipe for me - I'll let you know what I think. It is done in the crock pot.

Friday - Date night for Jim and Leigh Anne - Girls to Rascal Flats Concert

Saturday - Whatever we feel like!

Hi Leigh Anne, you should join us for Menu Plan Monday. Menu planning has been a lifesaver for me!

Hmmm... so if I comment, and leave my ideas... does that mean I have to also be committed? Haha. I usually am more organized when I do a menu. However, my husband decided a long time ago he likes to do the grocery shopping and it's always a surprise as to what he is bringing home. UGH

Your husband does the grocery shopping!?!?! So does he do the cooking too? I have a couple of friends whose husbands do ALL the cooking - just can't imagine. So do you have to create dinner from what he brings home? That could be a real adventure. Do you have any input into what he brings home. This is coming from a woman whose husband only goes to the grocery store if he HAS to - to pick up a loaf of bread or carton of milk! Please tell me more!!

This is a great idea, and I have done it on and off as I've raised my kids. My youngest graduated from high school last Friday (sigh) so soon it will just be me and my husband. Although I'm tempted to just have Cheerios for dinner now, I will fight that urge and try your plan--at least on some level (Cheerios may sneak in there now and then). Mostly I want to thank you for your great recipes. We have all of our kids over on the 3rd Sunday of each month, and I will most definitely be using some of the recipes you have posted--starting with the ribs on Father's Day. Yum!!! Thanks for taking the time to blog.

Julie,

We only have two more years until we are empty nesters and I can see that cooking for two will be a bit of a challenge. I gave my husband the cookbook "How to Cook ANything" telling him I had cooked the first 30 years and it was his turn the second 30 years - ha ha!!
Congrats on the graduation
