Leigh Anne Goes to Disneyland

There has been lots going on around our house or rather away from our house!

Last week Jim spent the entire week in Mobile Alabama at the home office. He picked a good week to be gone as it was in the 100's almost all week!!! One day my car said 109 but I think that was a bit high! Needless to say I spent most of my time that week watering the garden trying to keep it alive.

Tessa left on Sunday to head up to Tacoma for EFY - I'll do a separate post on the fun times she had!

Logan spent the week playing golf, hiking and seeing shows in St. George with two buddies. They also made a day trip to Las Vegas He is trying to squeeze in as much fun and as much golf as he can before he starts working the end of the month.

Cali was home all week working and playing and keeping me company until I left on Wednesday for Disneyland! She and a few girlfriends enjoyed their first solo camping trip over the weekend.

CM was having a Regional Showcase in Anaheim so I went down a day early so I could spend Thursday playing with a few friends at Disneyland and California Adventure!

It was nice to get a break from our hot temperatures in California where it was only in the eighties!

I think this is the first time I had been to Disneyland without kids or a husband - it was fun!!

We spent the first two days at the Disneyland Hotel. My friend, Karyn, who I stayed with is a Disney Property owner so she had lots of perks!

We had a great view of the Matterhorn from our room.

We were able to get into the park an hour early so we hit all the big rides first - Indiana Jones, Thunder Mountain, Star Tours, Haunted Mansion, Pirates. Matterhorn, etc. In fact by 10:00 we had pretty much ridden all the main rides! It was great.

Of course we had to go to It's a Small World for old times sake!

And then of course there was the carousel!

It was fun running into lots of my team members in the park that day!

I got left holding all the bags while they all went to have their picture taken with some car named Rustee or something from the movies Cars!

We enjoyed dinner each night in Downtown Disney and the fun entertainment.

After two days at the Disneyland Hotel we moved across the street to the Hilton where the convention was held. I had a beautiful suite compliments of CM with another amazing view of the park. We could see the beautiful fireworks every night from my room.

The convention went well and we had some good training and great new products. My plane was delayed Sunday evening so I didn't get home until after midnight but it was good to be home. Jim was home from Alabama, Tessa from EFY and Cali from her weekend camping trip with some girlfriends!

Wedding Reception

I did a full post about the wedding reception I helped with over at yourhomebasedmom but I wanted to share here too.

I helped my friend Pam put together the reception for her son Jordan. Jordan aka Buzz and Clark have been friends since high school where they played Lacrosse together and Jordan's dad was their lacrosse coach. They lived together their freshman year at BYU and both played Lacrosse for BYU.

The party was fun to work on. Molly, the bride chose a fun color scheme - teal blue, lime green, fuchsia and orange. We used blue Mason jars for flower vases and candle holders. On tables and hung from the fence.

We used even more canning jars with candles to line the pathway into the backyard.

We tied ribbons onto the back of the chairs. Pam had ordered hundreds of yards of ribbon and we found out Thursday night it was not going to arrive in time. She and I went on a mad ribbon hunt on Friday morning. We bought up every roll of teal, lime green, fuschia and orange ribbon that we could find. Fortunately we found enough to do what we wanted to do and it all looked so pretty!

I spent several weeks experimenting with different flavors of cupcakes. In fact I experimented with about 20 dozen cupcakes! And then we made 22 dozen for the wedding reception!

The turned out great - lemon, lime, banana, brown sugar, chocolate cherry!

In addition to cupcakes there was a chips and salsa bar and a slider and sauce bar. It was fun food and everything looked so pretty!

And then there was a candy bar in the wedding colors too!

My friend Karen helped me out by baking cupcakes and decorating them with me on Saturday -don't we look cute in our matching aprons! Karen's daughters were a big help too as were Cali and Tessa.

Despite the 90 degree temperatures, everything turned out great, the food, the decorations.

I guess it was good practice for me in case any of my kids ever decide to get married!

Wilkes Kids Update

The big news of the week!

Logan was offered a job. He was offered a great job. He was offered his dream job! He is so excited! The job is with a new company and will begin the end of August. He will be the director of Public Relations. The company deals with Green Energy and he will have lots of exciting travel opportunities! More details will follow as things progress! In the meantime he is going to enjoy his last month of freedom! He has been spending some time on the golf course, continues to work and train for his half triathlon he is doing this fall and he is headed south to St. George for the week with two buddies.

Clark continues to love his Cambridge experience - I just hope we can get him back home. He is giving regular updates on his blog - www.clarktheshark.blogspot.com but I will give you a brief update too so he doesn't think we have forgotten about him.

He continues to excel at his studies, receiving High Marks on the final exam he took this week. He turned in three more papers this week also so he is working very hard. The library at King's College is open 24 hours and there is a sign by the door asking the last person out to turn off the light. It has been one of his goals since arriving at Cambridge that at least once he is the one to turn off the lights. He reached his goal this week!

He was invited to dinner by one of his professors this week and enjoyed that experience. He also took in some of the night life in Cambridge and went clubbing with a group of students. We have fun gmal video chatting with Clark and he checks in about ever other day or so which is fun.

He even video chatted me the other day to ask me which tie to wear with his shirt to a formal dinner he was going to!

Cali is keeping busy at work and working through her list of Things to Do this Summer! She and some friends went to Flicks on the Bricks downtown to see Dirty Dancing. She also spent a day sunbathing on Sauvie's island with a friend.. She was a big help to me at the wedding reception I helped with on Saturday too. She has been asked to help out with a Primary class while she is home and is enjoying that.

Tessa spent the week planning her wardrobe for EFY - not all week but part of it! She is enjoying her summer freedom and spent some time hanging out with friends this week and did some more volunteer time at the library. She too helped me all day Saturday preparing for the wedding reception.

That's the kid update for the week! Tessa is off to EFY in Tacoma, Jim has left for Mobile for the week so it is just Cali and I the first half of the week. I head to Anaheim on Wednesday for CM Convention and a day at Disneyland so Cali will enjoy a few days home alone until Jim gets home Friday.
