London - Day Six

This was our final day in London and we tried to squeeze in as much as we could before we headed to the train station later that afternoon to take the Chunnel over to Paris.

We got up early, checked out of hotel  and headed out.  We had stayed at a small little boutique hotel near Hyde Park.  It was a great location close to Paddington Station.

We left our luggage at Paddington station and made two more stops.  There were two more markets that Cali wanted to take me to - Camden Market and Borough Market.

London - Day Six

Cali knows just what her mom likes.  Camden Market is an open air market located on the Regent's Canal.

There were lots of fun little craft vendors and shops.    Cali bought her self a beautiful pair of turquoise earrings.

We still needed a gift to take home to Tessa and Cali had the perfect thing picked out.  We got her a gorgeous lace dress from a little shop at Camden Market.  I was a little tempted to pick up a couple of t-shirts but I decided my suitcase was already too full!  I was tempted by the blue one!

From Camden we headed over to Borough Market.  This market is more of a farmer's market.    There were all kinds of amazing things.  Good thing my suitcase was full and stowed away at the train station.

One of the main reasons for our visit was this amazing curry.  Cali loves curry and she just had to have one more taste before leaving London.

No trip to London would be complete without afternoon tea.  So our final stop in London was Kensington Palace in Hyde Park.  Kensington Palace is where Lady Diana lived.

Next to the palace is The Orangery.  It was originally the greenhouse for the palace but now is a tea house.

Cali had been twice before.  The food and tea were delicious and the location is lovely.

This is a real English scone.

The Orangery is very bright and light and was a nice peaceful way to end our time in London.  I ordered the orange tea.  I had the selection of tea sandwiches along with a scone, an eclair and a fruit tart.

Cali chose the chocolate tea and a selection of little desserts to go with it.  She had been here twice before and wanted to try something different this time.

One thing I couldn't resist was a slice of their famous orange cake.  It was delicious but I  like the orange cake I made just as much if not better!

It was a lovely way to spend our last few hours in London.

We were then off to the train station and our trip to Paris via the Chunnel!

Arriving in Paris was a little more stressful than London.  Although I had taken French in high school and college that was a long time again.  Thanks to some helpful Americans we figured out how to buy a Tube pass and how to take the Tube to our hotel.  We checked in to our hotel and walked up the hill to a little Parisian cafe and ate outside for dinner and then it was off to bed in preparation of our first full day in PARIS!!!
