Thespian Halloween Bash

The Saturday before Halloween we hosted the Thespian Halloween Bash. We kept the food pretty simple with Papa Murphy's pizza, vege tray, chips and salsa and soda.  There were cookies for dessert and I did manage to make some homemade apple cider doughnuts!

One thing you are pretty well guaranteed when you host a Thespian Halloween party is some good costumes!

Here's a few of them!  Of course there was our cute or should I say creepy little garden gnome.

O.K. so this gal was dressed up as a Target employee - guess it's from SNL skit??  She was pretty funny!
I think this girl should get the award for the cleverest costume - she was a cereal killer!!  Ha ha !
And of course there were the major Harry Potter fans who played our Harry Potter Scene It and knew everything!
They played a few games - doughnuts on a string and of course bobbing for apples

And then just some hanging out and visiting.  Jim and I went to bed!

Bridal Shower

So I am all packed and waiting for Jim to take me to the airport.  I'm flying to Utah for a few days to celebrate Cali's 21st birthday with her!  I can't wait to see my three kids.

While I wait I thought I'd do a little blog updating from our crazy party filled week last week.

Saturday morning I helped my friend Cathy put on a bridal shower for her daughter Nicole.  I have known Cathy, through CM, for about 17 years.  Cathy has been battling anal cancer the last few years and is currently cancer free - yeah!  For the last year she has been going through an alternative treatment program and as a result her energy level is greatly reduced.

She just didn't have the energy or strength to put on the kind of bridal shower she wanted to have for her daughter so she asked me to help and I was happy too!!

She asked me to put on the kind of shower I would do if it was my daughter getting married.

Nicole loves pink, feminine, ruffly etc.  Since the wedding itself was going to be very urban we wanted to go all out with the pink and feminine stuff for the shower.

In addition to myself, several of Cathy's friends helped with the food and we had a nice assortment of treats.

We added a lot of fun vintage touches including some beautiful flowers that one of Cathy's friends put together for us.
I borrowed my neighbors 1920 typewriter to have guests leave a message for the new bride.  Fortunately I was able to find a ribbon that fit it on the internet.
I used my Scrabble game to spell out the name of the bride and groom.

I brought along some of my old vintage books for decor too.

And I made a banner out of paper doilies that looked pretty above the serving table.

We also had a mini cupcake decorating bar which was lots of fun. The guests each decorated four cupcakes and took them home with them. We had lots of fun decorating items!

Here's the pretty bride to be enjoying her cupcakes.

Mother and her daughters!  Cathy, Hailey (home from BYU for the weekend) and Nicole.

Cathy told me that the day was everything she dreamed it would be.  Nicole's friends were texting to say it was the BEST bridal shower they had been to and they had been to a lot so I was happy!

I left the shower to go over and do a personal stylist appointment.  From there I picked up Cali's Homecoming Dress and got home in time to get some things ready for the Thespian Halloween Bash and the birthday party we were going to that night - what a day!!!

Happy Halloween!

We did all of our Halloween celebrating during the week with the Thespian mixer at our house, my Mummies Night Out and our neighborhood Halloweenie roast - I'll post pictures of those events soon.

Today I wanted to share with you the cute Halloween costumes my kids came up with - they are so clever.

Cali and her roommate dressed up as Travelocity gnomes! How cute are they!

I think Cali got something stuck in her beard!

Of course Cali was a Travelocity gnome from London - her roommate drew the backgrounds for them.  And we finally got to see a picture of Cali on her Scoot Scoot.  Hopefully it is going back this week!

Thanks to Cali's inspiration Tessa also decided to be a gnome but she went with the garden gnome variety.

We found her pants at Goodwill.  She wore her own boots, shirt and vest.  We bought her beard at the Halloween Shop.  We spray painted a party hat from the Dollar Store and I made her mushroom from a bread basket I got at Goodwill, newspaper, a papertowel  roll and spray paint.

Think it turned out pretty darn good!

And then can you guess who Clark is??

He and his friend Lizzy went as the Captain and Mary Anne from Gilligan's Island - how cute is that!

I think Clark must be talking to his mother on the phone.
Logan was DJing a dance on Saturday night so I'm not sure if he dressed up or not??
